My NAB 2013 Presentation

Here’s a recap of my XPresso presentation from NAB 2013. I had a blast at NAB and a great time with the Maxon crew. It was an honor to be in the same company of so many creative C4D users from around the world.

So Maxon posted videos of all the presentations from NAB 2013. Mine was about how XPresso can help optimize your workflow in Cinema 4D. I demonstrate how you can create control panels with User Data to streamline all your relevant project settings into one spot. Here’s the project files that went along with it.

  1. Dear Michael.

First, thank you for your insightful presentation on Xpresso, I find myself using it more and more, simply to save time on commonly used models and rigs.

I was particularly interested in your section about using link lists and quicktab radio buttons to control background material colour and lighting. The linklist to material setting I get, and that works – But I really don’t understand how to set the colours of the lighting to match the colour of the material in the quicktab radio list.

Are there any other pointers you could give me please to help me out.

I look forward to hearing from you in due course

    Kindest regards

    Richard Dobell

Hey thanks Richard I appreciate it. The buttons act like a numbered switch, so you could use a Condition node (found under the Logic nodes) to change the kinds of inputs. You feed your button input into the Switch port, and then create as many different inputs as you need. It accepts and passes all types of data, so you could set a Constant node to a particular color, then have the switch select one of several colors, then pass that information to the Color value of your Light. I hope that make sense, email me if not and I can maybe set up a project for you sometime.

  3. Excellent – you sir, are a star. Worked first time. It’s obvious when you know how…

If ever you find yourself in Cambridge, England – Call me, I’ll buy you a pint (or two…)

    Thank you!
