In this tutorial I demonstrate how to model a 3D speaker and use the sound effector in MoGraph to have it move accurately to the beat of a sound file you specify. Here is a ZIP file that contains the Cinema 4D file to start and a short audio file to use.

great stuff… just one thing sound effector only accepts selected .au and wave files haha it was a little irritating finding this out after hours of trying to recreate what you were doing…
Sorry I didn’t mention that in the tutorial. I was definitely using an aiff file in the tutorial but included an mp3 version in the downloadable project files. I switched it out. Thanks for visiting.
Thanks for these. Really appreciate the Cinema 4D ones – needed to learn how to use sound to effect objects in Cinema 4D and you’ve really helped me out! Thanks again!
Loving this! It helpd me loads both for my graphic work and aniMOtion! Keep it Jiggy Big Mike!
good stuff thanks Big Mike
Thanks Randy
I love this tutorial. It looked really good and you explaining is amazing. One problem i am having is getting the sound to make the speaker move? i did exactly what you did but as soon as i insert the sound nothing happens when yours does
any advice/help?
What kind of audio file are you using? It can’t be an mp3. Try and AIFF if you can.
Good tutorial but can you make the surround move with the cone?
Not sure what exactly you mean…c an you be more specific?
In this tutorial only the cone is moving up and down. http://media.snimka.bg/7801/021858270.jpg (sorry for the link) Can u make it to move like a real speaker. The surround is connected to the cone and when the cone is moving up and down the surround follow the cone. Merry Christmas from Bulgaria
Merry Christmas Tseto. Yes you can, you basically just need to include that surround in with the other objects. The sound effectors applies the movement to whatever your clone is, so you can group all of the objects together and it will apply the sound based position transformation to the whole construction. Sorry about that, I was never a big audio guy so I thought I had all the moving parts correct.
Thanks Big Mike.I loved your other tutorial. Last question. Do you have a channel in Youtube?
Glad to help.
I don’t have a youtube account I use, all of my videos are on vimeo:
